Going Through 2nd Month Without Confinement Lady

Aunty Lee, our confinement lady was with us for exactly 28 days and left before Arissa’s full moon party. So in the month of September, I was with Arissa on my own and looking back,

I am amazed that I managed to survived the whole month! Of course, I must thank all my friends and relatives that have been very caring towards me and have been visiting me to keep me sane and entertained.

Arissa was practically still going through the same routine – eat (drink), sleep, poo and repeat

We also started bringing her out to public places and also visited friends and relatives’ house. The hardest part for me or where I struggled most during Arissa’s 2nd month (without a maid) was breastfeeding every 2 to 3 hours, lack of sleep and still feeling a little low looking at myself in the mirror.

I looked as if I was still 5 months pregnant with all the stretched marks around my belly and the lack of sleep made me moody too. Also, I felt tired and wondered to myself what I got myself into – I never washed my own clothes so diligently before but I do for Arissa!

But when I look at her face, her smiles and her satisfied look after having her milk, it was all worth it. So, in the month of September, whenever I can, I will take loads and loads of Arissa’s photos to remember the moment.

I must admit that with help from my husband who bathes Arissa everyday and my mom who prepares dinner for me, time really fly by very quickly. I also got part time helper to come to my house twice a week to clean the house.

Most importantly during this recuperating period, I also continued my postnatal massages to relax and wind down once every 2 weeks. I highly recommend Kak Ayie  to those who are looking for prenatal or postnatal massage. My therapist was Murni and she was really good. What I like about Kak Ayie’s massage:

  • You don’t need to go to the centre, they will come to you so you can enjoy relaxing massages in the comfort of your own home
  • There is no need to prepare anything. All you need is a bed/mattress/ anywhere in your house for them to massage you so it is really easy and stress free
  • If you are breastfeeding and alone, you don’t have to worry as the therapist can continue massaging you while your baby feeds (direct latch)
  • Murni (my therapist) did not only massage me but also checks on my baby and also massages her as well
  • Murni is very experienced and so I had no worry when I did my prenatal massage. As for postnatal, I just laid back and relax and I don’t even need to worry about milk leaking from my breast (breastfeeding moms will understand this) as they have everything prepared!

The only thing you would need to worry is that they are fully booked! I am also hoping that with frequent postnatal massage, other than to rejuvenate myself, I will also be able to reduce the size of my belly to how it used to be! I will update you in 6 months’ time.

Here are all the photos that I have taken of Arissa during the month of September!
